Whisper Soothingly Around This Blog

So I had my 28 week Centering Pregnancy appointment yesterday. The good news is that I don't have gestational diabetes! Yay! I can continue my shameful practice of mixing in strawberry quick with my skim milk. Shhh, don't judge, its the only way I can stomach milk (though the odd thing is that I never drank that pre-pregnancy, but WB loved it so much as a child that he had a stuffed animal of the quick bunny that is still lurking somewhere in Puerto Rico threatening to make its way northward).

Ok, yes, there is some not so good news that I was vainly attempting to couch with my oh-so-distracting strawberry quick confession. I have very high blood pressure. High blood pressure in pregnancy is not a good thing. Like really not at all good. Especially if it develops into preeclampsia. They're testing the amount of protein in my urine this week to make sure it isn't preeclampsia, though the fact that I gained 12 pounds in the last 4 weeks doesn't look great. Neither do the headaches I've been getting. But we're being positive and will contemplate bridges as we approach them only, and not before we even know of their existence.

So I'm taking this week and laying low. I'm laying lower than I ever thought imaginable. I'm working half the hours for now and on bed rest at home for just this week, trying to see if we can lower it by relaxation, positive thinking, and the power of Netflix. So send good thoughts and positive comments only please. Whisper gently around here, we're trying to lower the blood pressure, not raise it.

ooooohhhhmmmmmmmm....ooooohhhhhmmmmmmmm....ooohhhhmmmmmm..... Jay has a great CD of tibetian monks chanting that I can burn for you if you want. I wish I could be there to rub your feet and bake you brownies (though I'm sure Carlos has got those covered). As far as movies I recommend anything with Katherine or Audrey Hepburn- just watching their fabulousness always makes me feel better. Rest up and calm down soon!

I'm send the full power of yoga teacher training to you. The picture you sent me is totally going on the puja. If that doesn't transmit shakti then I don't know what does...

i LOVE strawberry quik! WB and i really are culinary soulmates. or maybe i am secretly part puerto rican. to this day, i prefer strawberry flavored items to taste like the quik and not actual strawberries.
hope your heart relaxes and the veins open up.

Shellie had high blood pressure every time we went to a doctor appointment. She started to check it every time she went to the store at those check your own pressure machines. The doctor agreed with this swearing by the accuracy of the machines. Her pressure was never high. A complete case of white coat high blood pressure. I hope that is all you are gong through.
Of course I know how serious this is, so my thoughts are with you. Pretend you are throwing french fries at innocent dinner companions and whispering about ovulation, that should help calm your nerves.
Oh and pt your hair in Buns, that is always fun.

I think you should go for daily massages (in a massage chair of course). I would think it would help, but even if it didn't, you certainly deserve to be pampered.
